In the present digital library, we are trying to preserve the intellectual tradition that has been bequeathed to us. For now, we have collected several issues of Our Heritage, a journal that contains some of the finest articles on several aspects of the classical Indian knowledge system. Many traditional scholars (pandits), alongside anglophone Indologists, contributed significantly to this journal, spanning various fields, including Nyāya (logic), Kāvya (poetry), Vyakaraṇa (grammar), Jyotish (astrology), Chanda (prosody), classical Indian history, etc.
With the advent of colonial education, a group of philosophers trained in European philosophy began to reinterpret insights from classical Indian philosophy in a new context. Kolkata emerged as a leading centre of this cosmopolitan philosophical scholarship. Many of these philosophers from Kolkata (and also from other places in India) had their works published in The Journal of The Indian Academy of Philosophy. Many of the issues of this journal have been collected and uploaded to the present site.
Some letters from important philosophers have also been uploaded.
We are in the process of making unpublished essays by renowned philosophers, such as Krishna Chandra Bhattacharyya, in both Bengali and English, available in the digital library.
